Set sometime between 1763 and 1775, "Wieland" is narrated by Clara Wieland, and concerns the fate of her family and friends - her brother Theodore, and their friends Pleyel and Catharine. WHAT?!? You haven't read this book?!? It is considered the first American novel and Brockden Brown set the bar very high! Creative, mysterious, faithful and faithless. THIS IS A MUST READ!!!
Kind of a weird book, but then after reflection it took deeper significance and made more sense.
