Well, this was NOT good... it receives its two stars for two things - good, detailed writing and the setting of Chicago.
It must be the first book I have ever ADDED pictures to! I had to add a map of the wards and neighborhoods... I have lived in and around Chicago my whole life and I don't know where all 50 wards are! It is amazing to me that this book was published without such a map already inside it. I sincerely hope that the publisher adds a map for the paperback edition. Either way, I can't imagine reading this book if you don't live here.
I did like the main character, Sunny - him and the setting were the only thing that got me through the whole book. Perhaps if I had more of an interest in city politics, or even politics in general I would have liked this more... I don't know what exactly made me dislike this book so much, but I did. The Harold Washington-type mayor drove me nuts too... and the end was very predictable.
