I have been keeping track of my position on my wishlist books so that I know which ones are moving and which ones I will probably need to buy when I get ready to read them....I've been writing these down so I know where I was...when I signed in this afternoon I had went backwards on two of my books!  What would cause this?  I'm not mad, just a little perturbed and a lot curious!  Thanks in advance for any help I am given!!

Assuming you only went back by one spot, it's probably because the person who is at the front of the line had them offered to them, they accepted and then the sender either did not respond in the five days or did not mark the books sent.  Thus the wisher was placed back at the beginning of the line.  Does that make sense?

Or a wisher put their shelf on hold, did not have those books on autorequest so they 'disappeared' from the wishers and then they took their shelf off of hold and are now back in the wishlist.

It could be that a couple transactions were cancelled and the person added back into the 1st WL position.

I know the feeling!  I had the same question which I posed to a very helpful member through Live Help option.  She gave me some of the same explanations as others have given you.  Personally, I tend to be pretty "anal" about watching my Wish List and it does drive me a little crazy when some books go up and down a space or two.  I keep telling myself to be patient and I will get the books I want eventually and I have gotten several of my Wish Listed items already.  You might want to think about putting your requests on Auto Request, I went ahead and did that for several of mine that have gotten down low.  I sure would be upset if I missed my chance by not checking into PBS regularly.

YES - I admit it - I'm addicted to PBS!

I saw you question and wondered, how do you know where you are in line with the wish list?

Hi Amy,

I've had someone ask me this question before and here's what the help center has to say about it:

This happens when another member who was "ahead of you" in line previously (and who got an offer of the book already) gets back into line, for one of several reasons:

  • The member's Wish List book never arrived, and was declared Lost in the Mail
  • The member's Wish List transaction was canceled by the sender
  • The member had had her account on hold, and has now returned from vacation and unHeld her account. She will go back into line at her previous position when she does this: if she was "ahead of you" before, you will move back a space.

Please be assured that we would NEVER put another member ahead on the Wish List without good cause--in order to go ahead of others on the Wish List, a member MUST have Wish Listed that item earlier (on an earlier date) than they did.

Cat, you hover your cursor over the exclamation point in the gray circle by the book on your wish list.

I hope that made sense. Sigh, this is why I quote from the Help Center!
