It's another adventure for Kit and Nita, and at least this time the entire universe does not depend on them for survival. I like how Duane manages to work in enough science to make the wizards' spells sort of plausible. And I liked how she took our fascination with Mars and made a case for why that might be so. I really liked that this is Kit's turn to be tempted by the Lone Power in a way that is a bit more subtle. Dairine is around, but looks like she's going to take over Wellakh's sun maintenance (not to mention that Roshaun may not be dead). But the books are starting to feel just a little bloated - there's an awful lot of description about the spells, and the effects of the spells, that just doesn't need to be there. Anyway still good, although 3/4 of the way through I found myself starting to skip over paragraphs.
