We Are Wolves - We Are... Author:Molly Grooms, Lucia Guarnotta (Illustrator) In this delightful story, two young wolf cubs explore their new world with Uncle Wolf. He teaches them all about being wolves, and their mother is very proud of them. They learn to be watchers and listeners and travelers and hunters. But most important of all, they learn about their pack and being a family. — "We are watchers. We are travelers. W... more »e are listeners. We are hunters. We are family. We are keepers. We are wolves."
When two wolf cubs are left with their uncle while the rest of the pack goes out to hunt, they receive a daylong lesson in what it means to be a wolf. Uncle Wolf encourages them to listen more deeply, and they realize there are more sounds than they ever thought the world could hold. He tells them to look carefully, and they discover sights they had never observed before. The learning goes on, and the cubs' initial disappointment at not being included in the hunt disappears as the special world of the wolf is opened up for them.
Human cubs will love "running" with the wolf cubs as they explore the splendid world the wolves inhabit. Lucia Guarnotta's highly detailed illustrations capture the noble nature of these loving and playful animals.

"A beautiful meaningful story that provides a valuable example of how extended family members can help raise the children. There is also a strong message of the importance of male role models (not just fathers) and male childcare providers".
The artist owes a debt of gratitude to the photographer and author Jim Brandenburg as the source of inspiration for the illustrations.« less
