Late 1800's San Francisco. Charlotte Smith's parents commit her sister, Phoebe, to an asylum. She fakes madness and follows her sister inside. She becomes inmate Woman 99. She finds many women are not insane. Powerful people do not want the secrets to get out. Gripping story of the power of female courage. All things turned around and made for a great ending for Charlotte and Phoebe. This historical book is recommended!
