The stamps celebrate the contributions of Amish quilters over the last two centuries across America to their distinctive and practical art form. Frank Ramirez and Richard Pletcher have collaborated to create this history of Amish Acres and the development of the Round Barn Theatre into one of the nation?s busiest regional musical theatres. The book is divided into two sections. The first covers the history of the acquisition, preservation and restoration of the Stahly-Nissley-Kuhns farmstead into Amish Acres heritage resort. It has subsequently become the only Old-Order Amish farm listed on The National Register of Historic Places. The second section, ?This Wooden O,? follows Ramirez?s insight into each theatrical production that has taken the stage of the Round Barn Theatre over the last decade and a half. He explores each musical for its message as it fits within the Golden Era of musical theatre in America, then critiques the individual merits of each show?s artistic, performance and technical team. Together they create patterns of human life, love and interaction among those of different backgrounds enriching our capacity to appreciate and tolerate others who differ from our own cultural backgrounds.« less
