I thought this might be a fun thread...post your yard sale and garage sale finds here!

We hit our first yard sale of the season today.  I was looking for books (of course) but none were to be found.  The lady hosting the yard sale was so nice that I decided I had to buy something and looked at her clothes on a whim.  I found a dress for work (from Dress Barn) with a matching sweater. She was asking 25 cents per item, so I ended up paying 50 cents for a dress with the matching sweater.

I also found a pair of shorts, a skirt and a jacket.  Total price: $1.25.  I scored... yay!

I'll probaby hit some garage sales(aka 'estate sales') when I go visit my parents next weekend. That's their Thurs-Sat routine.  Last year I went with them to several and found some of those pie plates (the thicker ceramic ones) anywhere from 25 cents to $2(I got the cheaper end!) and my faves are an afghan and half-apron for 25 cents each! oh, and a bedspread that has the fabric I ws looking for - got it for a dollar.

You all will appreciate that. I went to a sale of someone that had an internet book business. The were selling the books that weren't worth enough to sell on line. Hb were 4/$1 Pb were 6/1. There were probably at least 5 or 600 books. I found $5 worth and have already had 2 requested on here.

I go to garage sales almost every weekend from March until October, flea markets several times a year, and there's a thrift store right around the corner. I collect dolls and I have a decent collection of Barbies from the 60's and 70's, most of which I've found for a dollar or two- and a few were even free!

I also buy wool sweaters for felting, craft supplies, tons of books, kitschy items, and I'm still looking for a small dresser and a small bookcase. Maybe I'll find them this weekend. ;-)

About a little over a month ago I went to a school garage sale that was just about to close. They had four boxes worth of books left over - bought all 4 boxes (150 books) for $3.00! Found out that I wanted/needed about 60 of them... the rest were posted on here and I had 10 come up from some other people's "want lists". Amazing! And that happened the day after I found PBS.... I hope to find another deal like that soon! JESY

I found five text books for anthropology and psychology (both of which are on my list of possible majors) from the college I am most interested in attending and I got all five for one dollar, as well as some interesting tips and information about the college from the woman holding the garage sale who had a son who just got his degree from the college.

I went to a church garage sale Saturday afternoon. It was an 8am-3pm sale and my DD and I arrived at around 1pm. They had marked everything down to a 25 cents each. I got my oldest DD a Columbia jacket in great shape. My DD that was with me got a scrapbooking kit (never opened), a change purse (tag still on it), and a few miscellaneous items. Also bought a very nice frame that my oldest will need in September for a project. And, we bought several books (two turned out to be waitlist book that I will post after I read them). We had two large bags of stuff for $2.50.

I love going to garage sales with my sister. I always look for books that I know are on wishlists so I can help these people find these books. Sometimes I get lucky, got 10 HB for $2 and some were brand new, only been out for about a week. My biggest find was a set of Hallmark ornaments for my dad, he was floored when I brought the bag home. It's gotten pretty slow for garage sales now though...its just too hot!! I hope to get out soon to look for scrapbook stuff since my sister has convinced me to give it a try.

My two daughters and I go to Rummage sales almost every Satuday-and once in a while on a Friday after work.  We haven't got anything special lately.  I got some cute  tops, some kick-nacks,  books, some purses...I switch purses alot and if you pay $1 for  a purse, you aren't out much.. If i remember anything good, I'll be back.

This isn't from a garage sale, but it's a good find. I got my elliptical for FREE!! It was sitting along the curb with a free sign.

A relative I told about this site surprised me today by hauling in two boxes of books...turns out, she stopped at a garage sale when they were just closing up and they just gave them to her!

I went yesterday to a local flea market.  I bought 1 box of Legos for my kids for $8.  They had tons of things in it for them including 6 or 7 little people.  They were happy.

I also bought 2 pairs of Lands End pants, 2 long sleeve tops, a sweater, a mid-weight Lands End jacket for my oldest son and a top for me and my hubby.  Total amount on clothing...$7.  I am washing all the clothes today.  So, I have officially started my back-to-school shopping.

our weather here on the East Coast has been so lousy it is hard to find yard sales.  This weekend calls for more rain...so who knows!  I love looking for treausres.
