Pierre had been moving from his parents to his grandparents all his life. His mother died in childbirth and then it was just him and his father, a voyageur. Soon after his father died, he was sent to live with his grandparents in Three Rivers, Canada. When they died, he was about fifteen. His only remaining relatives were his aunt and uncle who lived a half a dozen miles out of Montreal. *It dawned cold and snowy on Pierre's 15th birthday. He was still adjusting to his new family. At the table, there was a package in front of his place. He opened it excitedly. Inside was a hunting knife with a moose antler handle. He loved it. Pierre desperately wanted to become a voyageur like his father and his uncle. After the big storm was over, Pierre went with his uncle to check and uncover the traps. They were headed for the Spike camp and when they had reached it, they had already trapped a lot of animals. Reviewer on Amazon
