  Disclamer:

I did not make this up.

It is just a story I like.

-------------------

A Zen teacher saw five of his students returning from riding their bicyles.

After they arrived at the monastery and dismounted, the teacher asked the students, "Why are you riding your bicycles?"

The first student replied, "I ride my bicycle to carry a sack of potatoes."

The teacher told the boy, "In your life you will never want for food."

The second student replied, "I ride my bicycle in order to see the the grass, hills and trees."

The teacher the teacher told the boy, "In your life you will always be in harmony with nature."

The third student replied, "I ride my bicycle to see my family."

The teacher told the boy, "In your life you will always have the love of others."

The fourth student replied, "I ride my bicycle so that I may stay fit and strong."

The teacher told the boy, "In your life you will always have good health."

The fifth student replied, "I ride my bicycle to ride my bicycle."

The teacher promptly sat at the feet of the fifth boy and said, "I am your student, for you have learned the true meaning of life."
