Jose Carlos Somoza's "Zig Zag" is a really good book! It is also the hardest to read and most convoluted book I have read in quite a while. Despite an engineering background, the string theory and quantum mechanics left me confused. Fortunately, understanding these subjects is not necessary to enjoy the story. This book is an enigma within a puzzle within a mystery.
A group of scientists discover a way to look into the past for breif periods but they unintentionally loose something unexpected. As they die one by one they try to stop it while another group tries to turn it into a weapon. The climax is completely unexpected and will suprise you with the direction from which it comes. One bit of advice, try to read this one in one or two monster sittings. Otherwise you may get lost.
This is a translation from Spanish and I suspect something is lost in the translation, but it is still an absorbing read that will keep you interested until the last word.
