It seems zombies are the new It-Monster.  I just read the new classic Pride & Prejudice & Zombies, and am about half way through Breathers: a Zombie's Lament which is already being turned into a movie, along with Max Brooks' awesome zombie book, World War Z.  I'm definitely enjoying the new plethora of zombie stuff, but is this new batch of zombieana horror?  Most of it seems more tongue-in-cheek than horror.  Just like vampires traded in scary for sexy, it seems zombies are trading in scary for funny.  Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Any thoughts?  Are there still freaky zombies out there?

I got hooked on zombies a few years back but never really searched out books about them until the past year or so. How was Pride,Prejudice and Zombies?I've been thinking about getting that one. I haven't really come across many funiy zombies(except in short stories) but I definatly think that more people are reading zombie books and more and more "unknown" writers are putting out zombie books.Maybe that's good for us though-maybe they will get posted here more.As it stand now you pretty much have to buy them:( Maybe we should have a zombie reading circle! lol!!

Stacy- P&P&Z was great!  Funny, exciting, wonderfully done, just a fantastic, crazy but brilliant reworking of an old favorite.

I actually read a story in the book section of USA Today about a month ago that claimed that zombies are the new vampires.  Also, a recent issue of Rue Morgue had a big article about zombie books.

Finally!!  I'm ahead of the curve with a trend. LOL!

When my parents bought our first VCR back in the mid-80s, the first movie I bought was Night of the Living Dead.  When my best friend's parents weren't home, we'd run down to the video store (no Blockbuster back then) and rent almost nothing but Italian zombie flicks like Zombi 2 and City of the Living Dead.

Yeah, Zombies are the new black, and im okay with that. Who isn't mildly afraid of getting eaten alive by something that used to be your little sister?

Well not all of the zombie books are funny. and i havent read either breathers or PPZ. (i've been told both are amazing though) Have you looked into PERMENTED PRESS? I've noticed qutie a few of my new zombie books are published by PP. If anyone is willing to SWAP zombie books. *a book for a book, because the waiting lists are horriably long.* Let me know. I have like 8 that i've read and are willing to trade. PM me.
