This was definitely one of my favorites in the series. It started out a little poorly, but I was glad that I stuck with it. It even has some of those tear-jerker moments. Great author, great series.

This is a retelling of probably the only fairy tale I really liked, Beauty and the Beast. The story is summed up in the forward... "This book is for everyone who fell in love with the Beast, and then was truly disappointed when he turned into a handsome prince." I knew instantly I would like this book. It didn't disappoint.

If you've not read PC CAst yet, this is a good place to start. YOu don't need to read her books in order. I feel this one falls far short of some of her other wonderful stories, such as "goddess of light" which is her best one. Cast takes a woman from today and manages to get her to another world, and living an ancient myth. This book however feels as if she is making up her own myth as she goes along (although of course Hecate and the Minatour are parts of "real" myths) so it does not have the lovely feel of a "real" myth, like Hades and Persophone (Goddess of Light). The story doesn't sit right, things don't make sense and sometimes feel as if she's hoping the reader doesn't look to closely at what is happening. Read it, but know this author can and does do much better.
