Very good book but at times was distracting because one chapter would be when Estrella was young, then the next chapter would be when she was widowed. You have to pay attention to the dates in the chapter headings. Other than that, a wonderful read and I learned a lot more about Queen Catherine and really felt sorry for her. Highly recommended if you love anything about King Henry VIII.

I'm normally a fan of this author's other works (she writes romances under the name Jennifer Ashley and Allyson James and Historical Mystery under Ashley Gardner) but this book didn't do it for me. After three days, only 50 pages read, and continually falling asleep every few pages I just gave up. I'll another of her Historical Fiction but this didn't work for me personally. 1 star.

The first in a series about Henry VIII's wives, this is the tale of Catherine. Very rich in historical detail and told through the perspective of one of Catherine's lady's maids, Estrella de Montoya. A little slow at times but leaves a lasting impression on the reader about who Catherine was.

Laurien Gardner gives us insite into the life of Catherine of Aragon through the story being told by her maid Estrella de Montoya. Both ladies arrived from Spain with fantacies of King Authur and chivalric knights but soon find their lives will be much different than what their dreams have depicted. We hear much of Catherine's rival, Anne Boleyn but this book let's us see the life of Catherine prior to becoming Queen as well as her life once Anne becomes a great influence in Henry VIII life.

A great book. It tells Catherine's story of her marriage
to Henry VIII. { Thru the eyes of her maid}

Great historical fiction book and companion story of A Lady Raised High. They don't have to be read in order-in fact, this overlapped with Anne Boleyn's side of the story.
