The back cover has blurbs and recommendations from various speakers and ministers and editors. They describe the collection very positively and give some sincere praise.
But I originally came across a copy of this book in a waiting room and annoyed the other 'waiters' by cracking up and roaring with laughter repeatedly. That's my own recommendation.

The cover pretty much says it all---quips & quotes for writers and speakers. Anyone who does any public speaking can make good use of this hefty tome. And---unless you're talking to yourself!---any speaking you do is going to be in public, isn't it?
The book is divided alphabetically into handy topic sections such as Ability, Accidents, Accomplishments, Baby Sitters, Capital Punishment, Economists, Envy, Facts, Gambling, etc. down to Work, Yawns, Youth and Zeal.
Some samples include:

Good continuation of an excellent series. A small town has mysteriously vanished from contemporary America, and landed in the middle of Europe's 30 Years War. Not to mention landed right in the middle of the argument between the Holy Inquisition and the accused heretic Galileo.

This is an oddly good story. Yeah, it's about magic and sorcery and magicians and stuff like that--but it's also about trying to get a job, dealing with an unreasonable boss, trying to get along with some nasty co-workers, and just bringing home a paycheck. Mills has a winner here!

Another chapter in Acorna, the Unicorn Girl's story.
It's imaginative in its outline and the story is well told, but I was a little depressed or discouraged at the evil of people in the world-- not that I disagreed, I just wish that weren't so true-to-life.

I can't describe the book better than the blurb on the back, except to say that the writer makes you feel that you are very nearly personally with him on that drifting wreck of a raft. The broiling sun is roasting you and the Atlantic waves crashing and tumbling over you, over and over---over and over---over and over . . .

A predictable genre romance, but still a light-hearted romp that's a fun read for a rainy afternoon.

The United Free States felt well-defended behind its screen of elite naval Dragon carriers that held sway in the Atlantis Ocean. But when New Destiny proved to have dragon carriers of its own (and more of them) the linch-pin of the UFS defense went out the window.
Edmond Talbot had never really studied naval warfare, but what he didn't know about war in general hadn't been written. So when he took over the navy, at its moment of utter defeat, New Destiny's problems were just beginning.

A romance/thriller. I didn't read the others, so I don't know how good they are, but this one had some pretty far-fetched plot elements. Sexy, but not always extremely logical.
