Marvelous. I am keeping this one. James Rollins, Clive Custler, Wilbur Smith, George R.R. Martin these are great writers with excellent reads. I love the interplay of history into a modern setting of a Clancy like today. Modern weapons and technology, spying, contient hopping, puzzle figuring greatness. "And I even like the color." -- prince in Indiana Jones, Last Crusade

What a great treat! Dragonbone Chair (4 volumes) was a very GOOD fantasy series with just the right mix of magic, adventure, coming of age and nicely detailed, descriptive explanations.

Highly recommend this new serices to lovers of George R.R.Martin's "Game of Thrones" Jordan's "Wheel of the World" (Shadowmarch is not a long and drawn out) and Greg Keyes' "Charnel Prince" series. I also liked it better than Mary Zucker Richert's series.

You won't be disapointed.

End of the world disaster novel. Large on ramifications of east vs. west vs. the rest of the world. Needed a bit more "after" for me to give it 5 stars. Great adjectives; a rainy day favorite. "Lucifer's Hammer" was a perfect 5 1/2 stars! This one is about low 4'ish.

How can humans survive millions of years into the future? The Starfarers take off on a journey at the speed of light that keeps time normal for them, but advances Earth to untold thousands of years while they are gone.
What do they find? What is there when they return? Anderson is a very deep and rich writer that takes you on a voyage . . . to strange and sometimes hauntingly familar places. I wanted more description and less of the effects of the Faster Than Light Travel vs. what happened on Earth. Enjoyable rainy day escape.

Rich text, deep characters, excellent writing... anything by Alastair Reynolds is worth your reading time... compares to "Perdido Street Station" by China Miéville, "Legend of Springheeled Jack" by Mark Hodder and "The Mad Ship" series by Robin Hobb.

Awesome world building, great story line, SteamPunk, excellent characters...

Exceptional story

Cussler rules! I wanted more treasure but the descriptions and colorful background information make this another Dirk Pitt great. Try "Treasure" or "Inca Gold" for more treasure and less action.

A lively story of Fantasy. McKiernan is very colorful and imaginative with his magic and his characters. I wanted more magic and less folklore. Give me a spellcaster every time. Very Good Read with a language performance of clarity and colorful adjectives.

The Warded Man is absolutely the best fantasy novel I have ever read. It is non-stop action with wonderful characters and totally new magic elements I have not seen in another fantasy read. I love George R.R. Martin's Clash of Kings series and Warded Man ranks right up there in the stratosphere. My friend did not like it until after page 150 because he was looking for the main character to start some action.

ALL of the lesser characters, the story plotting, the excellent descriptions and language used to describe the Warded Man's world ARE action right from the first page. I never buy hardbacks, but can't wait until FEB 2011 for the Desert Spear. If you don't like this exceptional deput novel...nothing at all will please you that you read in the future...
