I was glued to the story for about 3/4ths of the book. It was just the last quarter that felt rushed and was not at the same pace as the first of the book. I have a feeling this should have been a longer book. The other problem I had was too many misunderstandings due to lack of communication between the hero and heroine. I hate that.
I like both characters for the first 3/4th. The sensual tension was there. The one sex scene is brief.

I was glued to this story with sensual tension and suspense. Fast paced, which is a positive and a negative. I would have loved a couple of more bedroom scenes -- the hero and heroine are hot together. Gave it a 4.5.

If the bodyguard, protective hero trope is your thing, than this book is for you. It is the third book in a series, but it can easily stand alone. The couples from the other books make appearances.

The hero is strong on the outside, mushy on the inside. Family and protection is important. Heroine is soft, anxious, yet determined. Both have something in their pasts to overcome. But that is only a thread in the story involving the threat to heroine's business and self and the hero's need to protect and solve the mystery.

The heroine is in danger, but it is also a mystery as to why.
Banter is great, funny, and I laughed out loud at some parts.
Hero falls pretty fast.

Not sure what sexy rating to give it. There is some heat to a build up of attraction. There is an explicit sex scene and language. Some sex scenes are more closed door.

This was my first book by this author and I loved it enough to want the other books in the series.

The book has great emotion highs and lows, shows depth in the characters, includes great love-making scenes, and is a very satisfactory story in such a small package.

I had been waiting for the final book in this series since Camp piqued my interest with the chemistry between Lady Francesca and Rochford in the Marriage Wager (book 1). I was not disappointed. I think this is my favorite book of the four. And I don't think you need to read the other 3 books to understand the 4th, however the couples from the previous stories do make an appearance.

Thoroughly enjoyed it and read it within a day of purchase. I was glued to the pages.

I was trying to figure out why this was just okay for me. I just didn't feel the chemistry between the hero and heroine. I know they were in lust, I just didn't feel the love. Then I became more interested in Louisa and Jardine's relationship. When that happens I know this is losing steam for me. Will have to get the book about them when it comes out. Hopefully I won't be disappointed.

Love this story. Sensual tension high. They talked directly to each other to resolve their issues. Dual points of view, so you get all the feels from both hero and heroine. I didn't want it to end.

This book started out great, with chemistry sparks flying between the hero and heroine. However, it began to sour for me, when 250 pages in the heroine is still stubbornly obstinate about telling the hero the truth of what she is doing sneaking around trying to solve her mother's murder. No matter how badly she insulted the hero, he came back to rescue her time & again. He had more patience than I did.

Excellent! I love books that let you into both the inner feelings of hero and heroine. Heroine has a past, but is stronger for it and the hero loves that in her. Highly recommended.

The Fierce and Tender Sheikh (Sons of the Desert, Bk 13) (Silhouette Desire, No 1629)
Review Date: 8/28/2009

This is a fierce and tender story and much bigger than the romance. Shakira is the lost princess, found by the hero, Sharif, in a refugee camp and she has been pretending to be a boy in order to protect herself. Anyone who watches TV must have some visual in their minds of a refugee camp - the pain, squalor, the look of desolation in the eyes of the people in the camps. Shakira depends on Sharif in order to make through the transition of refugee to princess and thankfully the author does not have the heroine forget where she came from. That's why this book is larger than any regular romance I've read before. Shakira and Sharif work to help the refugees left behind in the camp. Another thing that Sellars did was divide the book up in section and introduced each with a dream by the heroine. Very satisfying and highly recommended.

West is becoming a must buy for me, especially after this book. Its intense and satisfying. Rosalie has been hurt, really hurt, from the past and Arik is patient but focused on what he wants -- Rosalie. Loved the passionate story.

The Greek's Pregnant Lover (Traditional Greek Husbands, Bk 2) (Harlequin Presents, No 2935)

Excellent, even better than the related book, The Shy Bride, which was great too. The couple had meaningful conversations and worked things out. It had some depth.

Loved this story and the chemistry between the hero and heroine made it a 5-star from me. Great banter, hot & sensual, a hero that falls without fulling realizing it and grovels at the end.
This is my first book by this author and I'll have to seek out more.

Loved the book, great amount of sensuality, but well placed in the story. Both hero and heroine are likeable and relatable. Even though they are in competition for the advertising campaign, they bond and help each other. Funny and sexy.

Sorry, I couldn't get past page 84. I kept putting the book down because I did not like the hero. I even skipped ahead to read the sex scenes and found that I didn't enjoy them if I wasn't in love with hero.

The common premise of a widow falsely accused of less than lady-like reputation done with a unique perspective from the hero. I usually come across many rakes when I read regency romances -- Rockhurst, however, is an upstanding regency lord with a great deal of stock in justice. In this case he made if very easy for me to live without the rake, reformed or otherwise. The author planted the injustices against the Catherine, her family, and basically the whole community that I was eager for the villian to be found guilty. The only problem I had with the novel is that there was not enough romance or build of romance. I was left with the feeling that something was missing, though I was satisfied with the villian's punishment.

The Outback Wedding Takeover (Outback Knights, Bk 2) (Harlequin Presents, No 2403)

Loved the protector in Mitch. There is an interesting back-story that you get in the prologue and referred to throughout. This could have been a much longer book and I wish it had been. I would have liked even more interactions between the hero and heroine.

WOW, very hot book. This is the first category in which I've read a sex scene involving two immortal men (one a vampire) and a woman. While this is a paranormal, it is set in modern times, which created some problems for me in regards to the heroine. She was supposed to be a ethnographer/researcher, but that didn't come through in her character.
This was all about being overwhelmed in passion and hot sex turning to love (in less than a week).
The hotness & fantasy factor will warm you on a cold night.

Refreshing story of friendship that turns to love. I find a lot of HP authors use revenge or lies in order to get the couple together. I'm getting sick of those plot points, that's why this book really struck me. It didn't use them or need them. Both the hero and heroine have problems, but they are more personal and easier to relate to, like workaholism.

The only thing keeping me giving it a 5 star rating is that there is a lot more talk than sensuality. Other than that I love the less than perfect alpha hero, the heroine and the story.

I'll start off my review by saying that I've been eagerly awaiting Sterling Chase's story since I fell in love with him in Midnight Awakening (Book 3). When I found out that he will be the hero in the last book (#10) of the series, I thought I would just have to plow through the rest of the books and try to be patient.

I may have plowed through Midnight Rising (#4) and then I didn't even finish Veil of Midnight (#5). Copies of those books made it to Paperbackswap.com.

I'm lucky that the lure of Sterling Chase was just too strong, because I stuck with the series and I'm glad I did -- especially for #8, Taken by Midnight.

It sounds trite, but this book is the best book of the series. (IMHO) The chemistry between Jenna & Brock is right there at the start of the story. The romance in the book is strong. The sex is hot. The mystery still gets me turning the pages and there is some satisfying progress towards taking down the bad guy. The characters from the Order are present, so you see some of your favs. Sterling Chase is there too (yes!).

There is only one point where I was left hanging and that is the mystery of what's happening to Jenna. I hope that I see some resolution in one of the next books in the series.

This is excellent, a keeper, and those of you on the wait list -- well, you are not getting my copy. You may just have to go out and purchase your own. I have a feeling you will be waiting a long time for the next swap. This is too good to give up.
Happy reading,
Joanie
