The Divine Life of the Most Holy Virgin: Being an Abridgement of the Mystical City of God
Review Date: 2/28/2007

This abridgment, 800 pages, is one of the two books that changed my life completely. It is hard to describe. Written in the 1600's by a nun, Sr. Mary of Agreda, the original work is 3,000 pages long. It is what this nun saw and heard in ecstacy. you have to read this for yourself. It will leave you a changed person.

In Good Company: The Fast Track from the Corporate World to Poverty, Chastity, and Obedience
Review Date: 6/18/2007
Helpful Score: 2

This book is easily read, a lighthearted but also reflective account of a young man's decision to leave the corporate world to join the Jesuits. I picked it up because two of my kids are in Jesuit high schools, and I wanted to know more about the men who are teaching them. I enjoyed it very much. It put a human face on men who make the not so usual decision to give up stuff in their lives and follow a spiritual path. I recommend this book.
