I just finished reading this book and I will never again consider not reading a book because I don't think that I'd be interested in the setting, in this instance, circus life during the Depression. What an absolutely fabulous book. I have not read a book this wonderful in many years. It has so many different aspects to it, seemingly opposite, but yet, so intertwined-- love and hate, poverty and wealth, enemies and deep friendships, descriptions of life from a youth's perspective and from that of a 93 year old man, Jacob. I can't say anything more enlightening than the many, many reviews of this book, so I will simply end by saying....READ IT! You will NOT be disappointed!!
