Story about a family's response to the abduction of their 10 year old girl.
Her grandfather Ben lives in the N. Mexico wilderness where he battles old memories of Viet Nam & his estranged son John who is an Internet geek turned billionaire.
Author Mark Gimenez writes a terrifying child in jeopardy thriller in which dark family secrets make the finding of the girl more uncertain with every passing minute. The book has many twists and turns, and is very well written. I've added this author to my favorites list!

A very engrossing story by first time novelist; great cast of characters, well defined and believable; Anna, the main female; her grand daughter that she's met for the first time; Jack and Stuart, a gay couple, one who finds out he is HIV positive because of his hard to control libido; Marvin, Anna's son in law & father to Flynn (the granddaughter)who brings Flynn to stay with her grandma in hopes that Anna will keep her and finish bringing her up.
Flynn is into spirits, reincarnation, past lives...a beautiful, enchanting, and very troubled 9 year old girl.
Renee Manfredi weaves a tale that will pull the reader in
and keep her or him enthralled.

In this book, through the eyes and voice of the main character, we hear a spell binding story about how at 19, she fell in love and how a passionate
marriage becomes a nightmark, why she stayed, and what happened on the night she decided to run away with her ten year old son & start a new life under a new name. Living in fear in Florida yet with increasing confidence, she begins to heal from the pain of the past and almost believes the man she's escaped from will not find her and again provoke the attraction and destruction they had together.
This is a beautifully written and heart stopping story about a marriage, about abuse, and the inexplicable feelings between people who are connected in ways they don't understand. Great read!

Another good novel from Thomas H. Cook, continuing in the melancholy tone he tends to write in. Good strong characters, plot moves along but is not fast paced. Keeps you turning the page.
Main character Roy Slater left Kingdom County after a double homicide that rocked his hometown 25 years ago. He's now come back to spend one last summer caring for his dying father.
When a body is found in the woods and his first and only love Lila is connected to the corpse, it's Roy who's sworn in by the Sheriff to discover the truth.

First novel for this very good writer, John Hart.
King of Lies tells the story of lawyer Jackson Pickens, known to most as "Work" who is barely holding a failing law practice together.
The story takes wings when his father dies and Work stands to inheirit his father's fortune. He becomes a prime suspect, so he begins his own investigation.
Desperate for the redemption that's eluded him for so long, and stripped of all he values, he fights to clear his name and save his emotionally troubled sister. A novel about a murder and its' ripple effect within a community & a family.
