The contrast between fictional movies and real-life, as portrayed in this book, are quite intriguing. Real-life is more ambiguous, plodding, and the outcomes are obtuse. The descriptions of American bombings are heart-wrenching. Is it all worth it?

This is an ambitious book, including the culture, languages, and history of many lands. The female characters were as cunning and well-developed as the male. In fact, there seems to be a role-reversal of traditional, stereotypical roles.
The roles and influence of various religions (Jewish/ Christian) played in the book was very interesting. This book is way above the usual Fantasy genre in its complexity and execution.

A Game of Thrones is an extraordinary, well developed, fast-paced, fantasy for adults. The plotting is intricate with a mix of politics, treachery, and fantasy that takes place in a wide variety of climates and seasons. The interwoven family histories are fascinating with their corresponding totems. A deeply satisfying, riveting read!

Lily is a spunky heroine with a mean kick. She may be only a maid but she can solve mysteries better than the Sherriff. Harriss first novel in this series has a fast paced plot, unique characters, and a gripping mystery that I couldnt put down.
