Rarely do I not finish a book, even if I dislike it or find it difficult to engage in; but this particular novel not only made me uncomfortable but also angry- this is a pathetic attempt to make women appear totally unprepared to be on their own; while also falling into the old cliche that a man will leave his family behind for the lust of a much younger woman.
If I didnt know "better" I would assume that the author is actually a male.

I just adore Anita Shreve; but her obvious attempt to over use "big" words and her heavy- handed use of descriptives, prevented me from really getting to know the characters and the story; I gave up half way through the book. I was very disappointed; sorry Anita!
