We hit our Book Credits goal!
We hit our PBS Money goal!
At John Hamline Elementary School, we are building our literacy resources to promote learning both at school and home. Located in the Back of the Yards neighborhood in Chicago, we are a Title 1 school that serves a large immigrant population. Our school is comprised of 90% Latino students, 8% African-American students and 2% multi-racial students with 15% of our population including diverse learners. We are a Pre-K to 8 school and our current enrollment is 600 students.
As a school of predominantly English Language learners , our students are working on their language acquisition skills. By providing students and families’ access to books at home, students will be able to acquire language, build their vocabulary and broaden their knowledge of the world around them. This program would also strengthen our family/school connection with a focus on literacy skills. At Hamline Elementary, we are committed to providing and procuring resources needed for our families and students and believe the Home-School Connection Program would create libraries of learning for students at home and school.
Thank you for helping!
