Figured I would start this. I'm only going to list a few right now. I know some people love some of these, and I'm not trying to say to never read them. These are just books I couldn't get into. Anyone else have any?

• Dark series by Christine Feehan. They are all pretty much the same just with different names. I cannot stand when a heroine wants to kill herself just because she is away from her man for the day. The women are spineless and the men are overbearing cavemen. I have never struggled to read a book more then I did with Dark Prince. No clue when I finished it, I was hopeful I guess

• Huntress series by L.A. Banks. I could not get past the language. I read the first 3 books, and I have no damn idea what happened in any of them. All I remember is trying to translate it all. Plus the heroine annoyed me. I wanted to smack her.

• Others series by Christine Warren. The first wasn't too bad, was just too bland for me. Nothing really stuck out about it. I tried again with the latest one and I couldn't like the H/H. Also, I think calling your man Misha totally de-mans him, IMO.

• Wolf Tales books by Kate Douglas. One word -beastality. Don't wanna read about that, or even think about it, even if its brief

• Kiss of Fire by Deborah Cooke. I found it boring, and didn't see the love between the H/H as real. It just fell flat to me, and I really wanted to love it.

• Witch Fire by Anya Bast. Some nice sex scenes, but that's about it. Didn't care for the characters, or the plot.

I couldn't get into the Huntress series by LA Banks either.  I think I only got half way through the first one and just didn't grasp it.

I'm still debating Cheyenne McCray and Savannah Russe.  I have the first couple of each series but not sure.  I'll catch up on the new releases and try again, if not they will be listed.

i agree on the Huntress series.  the Feehan Dark series, well, some of them are better than others, but i still only read a few and don't plan to read any more.  so i guess that sort of counts as agreeing.

a recent bust for me was the Glory St. Clair series by Gerry Bartlett.  read the first one, didn't enjoy it or find even a glimmer or anything interesting that would lead me to read the others, so the other books i have in that series are going back out unread.

I love the Gloriana St. Clair series, and the Feehan series :(

Hahaha - I am with you on this one.

Some of the Dark series books are better than others.  Dark Prince and Dark Magic are among the worst IMO.  Dark Legend is the best.  I did tire of them, and have since traded most if not all of them. 

I agree about the Huntress series.  I couldn't  really get into it.

I'd add Karen Marie Morning's Highlander series.  I found the books too similar, and the heroines all got on my nerves.  I read three or four of them, thinking if I read the right book I could get what all the fuss was about.  It never happened unfortunately.

I agree on the Banks series -- I couldn't get the past the first one. 

I also Hated Jennifer Armintrout's Blood ties series -- how many times can the same character die and come back to life?

And Dancing with Werewolves by Carole Douglas -- I just didn't like it

I liked Jaz Parks. 

I have thought about trying the Higlander series because I love ther three fever books -- Dark Fever, Fae Fever and I can't remember the third one.    But I'm not a huge romance fan, so maybe I should forget about them. 

Carole Douglas was very disappointing.  After all her years of writing, I expected better.  It felt like she was told write this type, it sells.   Another author I felt let down by is Susan Krinard.  She wrote werewolves before it was big.  I always looked forward to hers.  Now I'm trying to figure out if they were always lame and I just didn't have anything to compare, or if she suddenly went lame when she changed editors and publishers.  Face it, some authors need a tough editor.

And I need to state that we are all different in our reading wants and needs.  I'm even different than myself.  I expect much more from my favorite authors.  I read Lynsay Sands and Christine Freehan and don't expect much from them.  They are light fillers for me, rather than keepers.  But even from LS, The Rogue Hunter was disappointing.

I loved C E Murphy's Urban Shaman series.  And kept wanting to slap the woman in the gargoyle series for doing stupid things.  No self perservation is a very bad trait for someone running around after dark in NYC. 

I liked the 1st Jennifer Armintrout's book but it was down hill form there.  Such a disappointment.

I've only read 1 book by Feehan, Sheenan and I have to add Lora Leigh...and will never read another by any of them.  Terrible!

The Zoe Martinque series by Phaedra Weldon - I tried and tried and just could not get into it! 

Happy Hour of the Damned by Mark Henry  - I think there is a 2nd one out now - another one I put down after 30 pages.

Another series I can't stand is the Succubus series by Nina Harper

And I completely agree with the Carole Nelson Douglas book!!

hmm... I like the KMM Highlander series...I can't read/listen to them back to back though and I wouldn't say they were as awesome as I was expecting but I do enjoy them with the bits of humor and romance. I'm on the 6th book now.

I'm still on the first Wolf Tales and I hd to put it aside for the same reason..I kept trying to ignore the 'tying up knot' but describing his sheath as being like a dog's I about gagged..I thought about reading it aloud to my german shepherd but she didn't look too interested...keep thinking  maybe I'll pick it up to finish and just try to ignore that part...but not sure I'm gonna make it :-(

yeah, i kind of agree.  i read the first two, and i kept wanting them to be better.  and now, even though i didn't really enjoy the first two, i still want to know what happens next, so i've got the 3rd on my WL.  probably better just not to have started the series at all.

i'm interested in other opinions on Jennifer Armintrout's Blood Ties series.  i've got it all, but so far i've seen opinions from people i mostly agree with that it isn't worth it, and i'm thinking maybe i should just get rid of them.

also, most opinions on Savannah Russe would be interesting.  i've got the first one, but i've been going past it for months now.

Ellen I liked the 1st one in the Armintrout series.  Hated the next 2 and last one is okay.  If you have other things to read get don't bother!

I read the first Savannah Russe. It was ok, nothing to write home about. The vamps are kinds weird. I have the rest in my tbr and I'm going to at least try to read the next one.

I thought the Blood Ties books were okay. If I would have been reading them (on paper) I probably would have given up early on.  Just too many better books out there to read.  I listened to the audio books though, and there just aren't enough good paranormal audio books out there, so for an audio it was okay.  I agree with the whole dying/coming back to life thing being annoying though.  

You really don't care too much anymore when the characters die if they can just come back to life.

My most recent disappointment was Night Life by Caitlin Kittredge.  It was so boring and overdone, nothing different or interesting & characters I couldn't get into or even like.   I actually quit with only about 50 pages left to go. I just didn't want to waste any more time on it.  I went and removed the other two from my wish list right away.

If I were analyzing by author I would definitely say Feehan.  I haven't been able to get into any of her stuff.   I also almost gave up on Laurell K. Hamilton because of the weird sexual direction she tried to take her two series into there for a while. But I loved the first ones so much I stuck it out, and I think she's getting better.

I'm with you on the Huntress series, I just can't get passed the urban slang, completely ruins it for me. I'm trying very hard to get into The Others series and I'm finding it pretty mediocre sadly. I'm running out of series to read!

It's hard to go by others' thoughts on whether or not you should read a series.  You should at least try the first book before getting rid of them.  If you get halfway through it and can't stand it, then you know.  If everyone liked the same stuff there would never be any diversity.  I mean, I have never heard anyone say they hated Lora Leigh's books and/or KMM's.  But it's all about preference. 

That being said, I haven't read too many yet that I completely hated.  I couldn't get through Magic Bites, but I think that was more of a mood than it was the writing.  I think I have a aversion for magic books, because they're so chock full of details.  The first Hollows book killed me, I was never so bored in all my life.  I ended up getting the audio so I could listen when I laid down at night, just to get through it, because I figured everyone loved it so much it had to get better as it went on.  Magic Bites seemed well written, but I just was not in the mood.

I also felt Night Life was a disappointment, can't say I hated it, it was on the boring side though.  Haven't read any of the dark series yet, except for the short in Hot Blooded, which was decent.  But I can see how stories can get redundent.

I've read the first Zoe Martinique book and I liked it well enough to try the next two but they're way up on my wishlist somewhere.

I have read one L.A. Banks short story in an anthology and I wanted to put a gun to my head after I was done.  I will never pick a book up by that author.

I wasn't very impressed with Stone Maiden by Tina Gerow or Blood Engines by T.A. Pratt but as noted before everyone's tastes are different.

Hmmm I should have added LKH to my list. I have never disliked an author or a series as much as her. I loved those books, then she turned them around and trashed the books and her fans. I try to not talk about her cause I have nothing nice to say.

As for going by what other people say, well my tbr is at 997 and that is not counting the thousands of ebooks I have. Sometimes I just have to cull the herd and it helps to listen to other peoples opinions.

I am going to catch some backlash for this I'm sure, but I couldn't get into Lora Leigh's The Breeds series. I didn't care for the characters or her writing. I also didn't like Lori Handeland's Nightcreature series. I just thought it was boring.

I have to be in the mood to read Lora Leigh, but I don't think she is anything special. I like the nightcreature series because its a fast read for me that isn't all that complex lol I can just enjoy it and not think too much about it

What's the deal with the LKH?  I have a gazillion and haven't read any of them yet. I need to be prepared it looks like! 

OMG, and I thought I had a lot to read 997?  Girl, you better start taking suggestions...LOL  What did LKH do?  I read an Anita Blake short of hers in an anthology and liked it.  I have Guilty Pleasures on my TBR file and am actually looking forward to it.  So what's the scoop?

I hate Lora Leigh!  So I'll be the 1st you have heard it from...I read one book by her and I will never read one again.

I like NIght Life, it definately took some time to get into..but I really liked it, read the second and anxiously awaiting the 3rd. 

The Zoe Martinque series by Phaedra Weldon read the 1st one but it was awhile ago.  I remember loving the premise but found it a bit difficult to get thru.  I have the 2nd in my TBR and will with hold judgement till I finish that one.  The Ilona Andrew books were like that for me...liked the premise, 1st book a bit difficult...loved the 2nd.
