Help Center - How do I change my account password?

To change your password from within your account:

Go to your  Account Settings:

  • From anywhere on the site:

    • Place your cursor over My Account in the toolbar at the top of the site
    • Choose Settings from the menu that drops down.
  • From My Account:
    • Click the Settings tab on the far right
  • Click the Change Password link at the top of the Settings page, in the yellow bar
  • On the Change Password page:
    • Enter your current password in the top space
      • note: if you have reset your password and have received a temporary password, the *most recently generated* temporary password is your current password.
    • Enter your new password below
    • Enter it again to confirm below that
    • Click

You will be sent an email from PBS confirming that your password has been changed; the password will not be in the email.

To reset your password from outside your account (ie, if you have lost your password):

  • Go to the Login page by clicking the Login link at the top right of any page
  • Click the "Lost Your Password?" link on the login box
  • Provide the answer to your "secret question"
  • A temporary password will be emailed to you in an email titled "Your Paperbackswap login information..."
    • Give this email 10 minutes to arrive.  If the email has not come after 10 minutes, see below.
  • Use the information in the email to log in and this will take you to the Change Password page
    • On that page enter the TEMPORARY password into the top space and enter whatever you are choosing for a new permanent password below that
    • Click Update and this will set the change
    • From then on the new permanent password you chose will be the only valid password for your account.


If you don't get the "login information" email ...

  • Give it a few minutes.  Don't reset your password over and over - this results in multiple temporary passwords (only the most current of which will be valid) and can get confusing
  • Check your spam folder
  • If you wait 10 minutes and the email has not come, your email provider may be blocking the email, thinking it is spam.
    • You should add "Librarian@paperbackswap.com" and "noreply@paperbackswap.com" to your email account address book, to tell your email provider that you want to receive our emails, and then
    • reset your password one more time and wait 10 minutes
    • If the login information email still is not in your inbox, contact us using the feedback link on the Contact Us page.
