Tom Anderson is a typical 16-year-old, who would prefer to go camping with his friends instead of his family. However, Tom eventually appreciates his parents and little brother after he nearly drowns from the raging rapids, yet is saved, so he thinks, by the Folan family. With the help of Kate Folan, Tom learns that Marcie, Kate's mom, is determined to turn Tom into a werewolf who will mate with Kate. Kate's parents and brother are werewolves, and her inner wolf will be released once she mates with a wolf, for which Tom has been selected as the prime candidate by Marcie. Tom becomes a wereling, and highly sought after for the werewolfs' future. Although Kate has fought the evilness that her mother displays, her only alternative is to run away with Tom in order to save herself and Tom. Kate and Tom search for a cure, yet Kate's family and other werewolf packs are determined to stop them. This is the first book in "The Wereling" trilogy.
