Police Lt. Eve Dallas is called out to investigate the murder of one of their own. Officer Amaryllis Coltraine was killed with her own weapon. Her body was left in the basement of her apartment building. This death hits Eve hard. Coltraine is the girlfriend of Medical Examiner Li Morris, a colleague, and a friend. Eve must notify Morris of his lover's death while vowing to catch the person who killed Coltraine.

After 28 books, this series is still going strong. Friends of Morris rally around to support him in his hour of need. With the approval of Commander Whitney, Eve puts together a team to search for a killer. There were several viable suspects in this story, along with a few twists and turns. I highly recommend. My rating: 4.5 Stars.
