When Monsieur Racine finds a strange beast in his back yard, he studies it completely and decides to show it to the world, with hilarious consequences.

I love Tomi Ungerer's style of illustrating: there is more in each picture than the main subject. Something else is always going on in the foreground or background that you may not notice on first look. This book is deceptively simple, until you look at the pictures and realize that there's more to this story than meets the eye.

A very interesting book for young and old, though it's targeted to 4-8-year-olds. I enjoy reading it to my children and looking at the pictures along with them!
