This book made me laugh, made me cry, and ultimately made me think about the way that we are seen by God and the way that we treat others around us. If you are looking for a novel, or a theological discussion, this book is not for you, as it is a collection of essays and anecdotes about Boyle's experience with LA gang members, and as such has pieces with profanity and mature content relating to drugs or gang violence (nothing gory, I just wouldn't hand it to a ten year old). The pieces are arranged thematically by chapter. I read the whole book in less than a day but have been thinking about it for several weeks. I have been recommending it to everyone I know.
