This is my first time reading this series and I can see why teens might like it. I found the book a bit lacking, but good to read. The first book goes back and forth from past to present, giving the reader a good sense of who she was before she was turned.
The only part that I disliked from this book was how much Sita resembled that of a heroine. With her gifts and abilities I was a bit disappointed to see her portrayed as such a weak woman. Her abilities to overcome defeat was shown many times yet how she got into such a predicament was what disturbed me. I love books that show women as intelligent, strong, and independent.
