Overall, I found this installment in the series to be a disappointment, although I would recommend reading it solely because the whole storyline of the series and the other characters advances with each installment as well.
While I liked "catching up" with some of the other characters in the series while reading this one, the actual story really didn't do very much for me. The reason? Mal. He was extremely annoying to me. His character in the first book had seemed kind, fun-loving, and somewhat responsible when he helped Evelyn, but his attitude towards Anne in this book was extremely immature. He was very selfish, and his antics had me rolling my eyes. The way he just changed things all the time without ever even consulting Anne was irritating, and then how he simply pouted until she agreed had me rolling my eyes. I have no idea how any woman would put up with that. Anne was too much of a push-over.
I will continue the series because Jimmy's story is next, and that is the one that I am looking forward to. His character intrigues me.
