There are two separate yet connected story lines at play. The children of the sea (selkies) have been attacked by the children of fire (demons) and the three youngest selkie children have been set adrift at sea to protect them while the elders fight. Unfortunately the boat sank and apparently the only survivor was Iestyn though he lost his memories of anything that happened before the wreck. He now goes by the name Justin Miller and has been kidnapped by the children of the air (fallen angels).

Fallen angel Lara Rho has "seeked" out Justin because his energy called to her but she doesn't know what he is anymore than he does. During a fight with demons, Justin is severely injured and compassionate Lara brings him back to Rockhaven School (the angels sanctuary) for medical assistance. Unfortunately the headmaster, Simon Axton doesn't trust Justin and locks him in the cellar using magical means. When Justin escapes with Lara, the hunt is on. The headmaster's henchman is searching for Lara and the selkies are searching for Justin.

This is a great addition to the series. Iestyn is a lovable character who starts out only thinking of himself (he is alone after all) but morphs into a well-rounded caring man. Lara is one of those people who fall instantly in love since being an angel she can immediately tell if someone is good or evil. I enjoyed the romance between them as well as the suspense of who was going to find them first, his people or hers. Very enjoyable.
