The Girl In Between by Sarah Carroll is the kind of story that stays with you. The young main character and the protective emotions the writing elicits; the fact that it takes on the very serious issue of being homeless; the fact that the book stresses the universality of this story by not naming its characters; and the fact of a seemingly abrupt ending are all reminders of a harsh reality and the makings of a memorable book.
