The second book of Lowell's Trader Tales series, Half Share was another great book. I listened to this one as an audio book, rather than reading ink on paper, and it's a book with just the right level of complexity to make that work well. (In other words, it's not over complex.)
Like the first book, our main character is one who gets things done and does things right. That might be off-putting to people who like losers and drama in their novels, but I really do appreciate characters with their heads squarely on their shoulders. Characters who face and overcome problems using their creativity and intelligence. Characters worth looking up to.
The themes in this second book get a bit more "grown-up" than the first book, and I do think we move from PG rated scenes to a few PG-13 rated ones, but that certainly doesn't get in the way of the story, nor does it make me *not* recommend this to my own kids.
Series advice: Do read the prior novel before reading this one. We're definitely building up to something here, not doing sequential episodes in a shared universe.
4 of 5 stars.
