A product of Western forts and the Army military, Rebecca Huntington has developed into an accomplished flirt. She is now heading back west after spending 6 years in the East getting an education.

Rebecca meets Lieutenant Clark Forrester on the train, heading back to her father, who is a commander of one of the forts. She is in the company of her aunt and cousin.

Clark is interested in the vixen, Rebecca. But Rebecca's father is a no-nonsense military-sort, who could offer Clark a court-martial instead of his daughter's hand.

The author knows a great deal about frontier forts and that added much to the story.
