Vicki Hinze pens a humorous and yet suspenseful novel in Down and Dead in Dixie. Daisy is your average girl who became an orphan when her mother left her and her brother in a Piggly Wiggly parking lot. So Daisy has definitely not had an easy life. But one day it becomes even worse. She sees a hit on the son of a mob family. And now, not only is one mob family after her, but two! She just got involved in a mob turf war:)
The characters are well written, though a bit kooky. Between Lester the boxer wearing jail breaker, Emily who can't see very well but sees more than she lets on, Keller the detective and even the funeral director you will get pulled in by them all. There is some action, some romance and even a little bit of humor. I would more call this a clean read or maybe slightly Christian. There is one scene that involves a marriage night that is a little more explicit in what is said but overall clean. If you enjoy a good funny suspense, this is a great one to pick up!! And I CANNOT wait for the next one in the series!!
I received a copy of this book for my review purposes from the author. All thoughts are 100% mine.
