I'm so glad that Neville found the lid to his pot! Not that there was ever any doubt, but being the most sensitive and isolated of the Parish Orphans I wondered who would be the motivation for him to leave his shell. While Clara proved to be a good fit for him, I cheered that Neville recognized that she needed somewhere other than his little corner of the world to thrive, and that perhaps it was time he did too. I love it when characters grow like that. Theirs is a heartwarming and tender romance and a gratifying ending to the series. Being a dedicated romance reader, it was the romance that first drew me in, but underneath, the entire Parish Orphan series is also a vignette of how close friendships can break apart, drift away, only to find their way back together again, forming something splendid and fresh in the next phases of their lives, and adding new loved ones along the way. Recommended. 4 stars.
