Stephanie Harker arrives from England and is stopped by TSA at O'Hare and segregated in a plexiglass room for a pat-down because she has a plate and screws in her leg. As she watches, her little boy walks off with an unknown man. She tries in vain to get the TSA to understand that the boy has been kidnapped, but winds up being tasered, twice. By the time she can talk and the FBI gets involved, the boy is long gone. Much of the book is taken up by her explaining her personal history and that of the boy to the FBI agent so that the agent can identify leads. Although several times I wondered why Stephanie included quite a bit of extraneous detail rather than sticking to the point, I was able to suspend belief because it was such an enthralling story. There were several twists in the last hundred pages, but the ending wasn't so much a surprise as a complete shocker. I was left with some disturbing questions about aftermath, but nevertheless is was a very a good read.
