This was by far not my fave Bertrice Small book. I've been a fan of her historical romance novels since I was a teen and just recently in the past few years read some of her newer books. I haven't been reading her Pleasures series in any particular order, but so far this has been one of my least favorites. I really enjoyed Forbidden Pleasures and it's a keeper on my shelf for sure. This book, "Sudden Pleasures," definitely leaves something to be desired. I didn't get into the characters at all and the erotic scenes were just plain boring to me. My favorite part of the whole book was when they described the delicious homemade fresh food Mrs. Byrnes would cook. Other than that there's not much to recommend this book in my opinion. I wanted to like it so much more.
