This book was good enough, but 4 and 5 star ratings are reserved for masterpieces and VERY GOOD books. I have been holding on to this book and two other by this author for years. They never get picked in swaps. The author is a male, and the book is not chic lit, but ROOSTER LIT. The main character gets dumped by his live in girlfriend, after 10 years. She leaves him because he has LET HIMSELF go! I am sorry but if a guy did that to the MC, in another book he would be not worth keeping anyway. So Jane, leaves Eddie and gives him 3 months to get his life and body into shape. Just like any chic lit book, dumped girl does her best to find herself and improve herself. In the end, as in most books like this, the MC finds they don't really want the Ex back, but instead finds he wants to love himself. The thing is this book is written from the male romantic lead's point of view. He has an annoying, shallow, best friend, who offers bad advise, time after time about what women want. There is a cute female bartender that reminds, Eddie, that he has a lot to offer anyone, He is generous, loyal and kind. I liked this character more than his BFF. I can't see a guy even reading this book, so I gather the intended audience is still female. I just wonder how most women feel about the shallow theories of women and love that are presented in the book. I guess I wonder how much of it is an accurate picture of how men view love, women, romance, sex etc.
