Deborah Scroggin gives a first hand look at the experience in Sudan with a special look at the work of Emma McCune. It gives a history lesson of how international aid to a starving population fuels armies and how the fight over oil continues to promote war. She looks at the Islamic world in the North and the intense hatred for the Christian and pagan popultion in southern Sudan and how Osama bin Laden began to hate the United States because of our involvement in Sudan as well as Somalia. A great read not to be missed. It is amazing how a Warlord was able to capture the heart of two aid workers one from Britain and another from the united states. One a christian the other a free spirit.
