I read Beautiful Boy and Tweak before reading A Million Little Pieces. James Frey's book is the best most easily identifiable book I've read about the subject of addiction. I too am not a believer in AA or The 12 Steps. Not because of lack of faith in God or a Higher Power but because I too believe that alcoholism is a weakness and is NOT a disease. Alcoholism is simply in Frey's case and in my own life a case of mind over matter. Mr. Frey made his mind up not to take another drink or to use drugs. I made the same deal with myself regarding alcohol. This book will remain a permanent part of my collection. I would recommend it to anyone with an addiction problem and to families of addicts. I am so glad I read this book!
