The recent storm on the NE coast has piqued my interest so I ordered this book upon the recommendation of a friend, and I am so glad I did. This well researched book carries you through certain families ordeals of the 1938 Great Hurricane. Towns are wiped off the face of the earth, over 600 homes blown away in one area, islands removed, hundreds killed. To give you an understanding of the devastation it wrought, downtown Providence, RI was under 18 ft. of water. Children trying to get home from school were never seen again. This was the largest hurricane to ever hit the NE coast in the 20th century.
