The few pioneering Black players were followed by an avalanche of talent in the 1970s. The salaries of most all pro football players were under $10,000 a year in the 1950s but we find that Black players lagged in pay when things began to be lucrative because they were slow to hire agents.
"No runner since Jim Brown captured the imagination of fans as did O.J. Simpson." Very true. (I didn't know that he began his post-high school career at a junior college!)
