I've been an Ellis Peters fan for much of my life. While most people are mad for the Cadfael series, I've always been partial to the Inspector Felse murder mysteries. Holiday With Violence is a fine representative of the genre and the author's work: well-paced, interesting and varied characters, arresting locale and historical details, and - of course - a murder that keeps the reader guessing about the perpetrator until the end. My only complaint is that I've read nearly all the books in the series!
