American Heiress Kitty Robertson is planning to wed Nicholas Glenville, the Marquess of Farmingham, who she has known for years. But then she meets Richard Stanbury, the Duke of Weddington. Sparks fly between them at their first meeting. Right away Richard knows this is the woman for him. When he finds that she is engaged to his friend, Farmingham, he knows she will never by happy in that marriage. Richard sets out to win Kitty's love, but she isn't cooperating.

This is the last book in Lorraine Heath's Daughters of Fortune series. I thought it was a well-written addition to the series. I loved Richard, Nicky, and even Kitty, though many people had problems with her character. She agreed to marry Nicky because he is a "safe" choice. Kitty's mother was a saloon girl who got pregnant and gave her baby up for adoption. Kitty doesn't want to be like her birth mother, and is afraid that passion will overrule good sense. And, of course, Richard makes that passion come to the forefront on their first meeting.

Nicholas has a secret and Richard knows what it is. It only takes about 10 seconds for the reader to figure it out. I liked that Nicholas didn't become the villain of the story since it happens in so many books with a love triangle. I would have given this book a higher rating if the secret and the ensuing twist in the story hadn't been so easy to figure out. My rating: 3.5 Stars.
