Mael MacRaigl comes forward in time to save Jeanne McBen from a common enemy and sends her back to Scotland to his time - 1250 AD. At this point, Jeanne doesn't know Mael and fights him.

Gregory Trench is a lunatic scientist from 2005 who has stolen Jeanne's research and has made for 1250 AD Scotland to procure type AB blood which is needed to develop the antiserum Jeanne has created. Only his goal is to destroy the world not save it like Jeanne intended.

After Mael and Jeanne's initial encounter in 2005, they don't meet again until half way through the book. This part of the book is boring as there is no interaction hence no romance. When they finally do meet up, Mael doesn't remember her and it is interesting for Jeanne to try to explain to Mael how she got there and where she came from.

All in all, it was a pretty good book but rather slow and tough to read due to the tediousness of it
