To Train Up a Child is a horrible book advocating disgusting things of parents. Michael and Debi Pearl raise the man in the household to a sinless level stating any problems with a marriage are because of the woman, and when it comes to children, it advocates pure child abuse whipping children from only a few months old. In the case of rape of a child, Michael Pearl insists the wife should allow the husband to remain in the home because "God hates divorce", they advocate pulling a young infant's hair, hosing off a child in zero degree weather outside to humiliate them and more. Please stay far away from this book and the methods it advocates! If you choose to read it, please consider carefully before deciding to follow any of their "advice" in their publications. There is currently a case in trial where the mother employed their techniques which resulted in the DEATH of her child, she is being tried for murder. Their methods are abusive and inhumane.

If you seek further details, I have page notations in a review I made of another printing of this book which states exactly where I found the details advocating abuse that another reviewer claims is fantasy. I would also be happy to point you to the exact locations on their website and others related to their "ministry" where they reference advocating abuse so that you can be fully informed. Further information that you should be aware of is that they have been investigated in their home state for child abuse of their own children and grandchildren.
