For two (supposedly) intelligent people, these two are awfully dumb. They rely on suppositions, misinformation, & miscommunication, which is really dumb. The premise that a police detective would submit to blackmail is just plain nuts, & the rest of the story is just as silly. I know this is just fiction, but could we have just a semblence of reality?
