When Jake Bannister makes a deal with rancher Tom Macquire to at least propose to Tom's oldest daughter in exchange for 100 acres of land with much needed water on it, he never dreams what he is letting himself in for. Tom is afraid she is so outspoken and rash she will never catch a man so he tries to broker a deal for her. Tom's daughter is coming home from school in the east with her teacher's certificate and all she wants is to teach. She is immature, headstrong and hot tempered. She was never considered soft and pretty like her sister so she figures she will go her own way and forsake a marriage, home and family of her own.
Set in Oregon in 1880's it's a cute story with a real feel. Enjoyable. Worth the read if you like romances. Not too steamy on the sex.
